What is considered Face Value?
Face Value includes the cost of the ticket, fees from the primary ticket seller (not broker fees), and shipping costs to the buyer.
Example
You paid $30 for a ticket through a theatre's online portal, but in check out you had to pay an additional $5 in processing fees and $2 in shipping. The total on the receipt says $37. You want to make this transaction through our Trader's Protection insurance transaction process and mail the tickets to the recipient.
- Good: "Ticket for sale, $38.37 + shipping"
- Bad: "Ticket for sale, $37"
Fair Trade means that the trades of equal value.
Example
If you have 5 lawn tickets ($30 each) and you seek only 1 hard to obtain floor ticket ($90) then a great offer is...
- Good: "3 for 1 trade and purchase my extras at Face Value."
- Bad: "I will trade you 5 lawn tickets for 1 floor."
Are Platinum Tickets Allowed On The Site?
Yes, there is a common misconception about Platinum Tickets.
-Although they are higher priced than most others in the venue, these tickets are not scalped and not resold tickets-
Instead, they are selected seats that have been marked up relative to demand. This increase in revenue goes to the band, ticket company, promoters, and often the artist's non-profit. Unfortunately, it is a new pricing model that is much like airline seats. As these tickets are being purchased for the first time, and no middle man is making any profit, these are actually face-value tickets.

What is Trader's Protection?
All purchases on CashorTrade are now backed by Trader's Protection, a 100% money-back guarantee!
Buyers no longer pay sellers on CashorTrade with PayPal. Instead, you pay with a credit or debit card, and CashorTrade holds the funds in escrow to protect both the buyer and seller. The payment is released when the buyer marks the tickets as received.
Visit our Trader's Protection page for more information!
What Does 1 for 1 Mean?
Fair Means Fair!
You can not offer 2 for 1 trades. Only 2 for 1 + cash difference.
Giving away a ticket with no strings is a miracle. Adding an extra ticket to a trade makes it unfair. We used to allow such trades until we had members offer 4 and 6 tickets for 1 ticket. With everyone doing that, it ruins the spirit of the site.
-If you have been flagged for a post requesting two tickets for the one ticket and not offering a cash difference your post will be subject for removal.
How do I speak to a CashorTrade team member about an issue?
We Want You To Be Happy!

buying
I Sent My Money, What Happens Next?
Once your card is charged, the seller will next get you your tickets!
They will either update with shipping, transfer the tickets to your associated account, or upload the PDF into the thread of your conversation.
When I Commit To Buy, do I automatically get the tickets?
Unlike any other ticketing site, the sellers get to choose who they sell their tickets to!
Committing to buy or messaging is just an offer. Offers must be accepted by the seller in order to be your ticket. You will be notified as soon as your offer is accepted. If you are committed to buy, your card will be charged. From there, the seller will get your tickets, either by shipping, transferring, or emailing.
What if the tickets I bought were over Face Value?
We do our absolute best to make sure no tickets above face value are available on the site, but this is a member-policed community, so we need your help!
It is on the buyer to make sure that they agree to the purchase price as all sales are final. If you see any post above face value, please flag the post right away and a team member will review as soon as possible.
We do allow Ticket Master Platinum tickets on the site. Please be thorough when committing to buy. If you are unsure, flag and we will review and determine if it is over face value!
If you are charged for tickets on a post that ends up being suspended please create a support ticket as soon as possible so we can review and move forward accordingly.
Am I allowed to cancel a sale once I receive the tickets?
No. All sales are final.
If you do not want the tickets that you have received, you can absolutely resell the tickets on your own. We know of a great place for you to post them ;)
Can I get a bad review as a buyer?
Absolutely!
We want both parties to be happy, but that is not always the case. If you buy tickets from a member and have poor communication, or make them wait outside the venue with your ticket, they are absolutely entitled to their review reflecting the sale all of the way through. Reviews are crucial when scoring hard to get tickets...so please, take care of one another!
What is the $1.00 charge on my card?
We must authorize every card when added to confirm that not only is it a valid card, but that it has not been reported lost or stolen.
-The card you enter is authorized for $1.00 but will drop off within a few hours-
selling
What is considered face value?
Face Value includes the cost of the ticket, fees from the primary ticket seller (not broker fees), and shipping costs to the buyer.
Tickets purchased on secondary markets such as StubHub, Vivid Seats, and Ticket Master Resale are not face value.
What if my e-ticket is not transferable?
If you can not electornically transfer your e-ticket that you have sold you have a couple options:
- Contact whoever you originally purchased the ticket from and ask them to change your ticket to will call under the buyer's name
- Contact the primary seller and ask if they can send you PDF's of the e-tickets and upload them to the buyer directly in the thread or send via email
- Send them a screenshot of the QR electronic ticket along with the email confirmation sent to you when you purchased the tickets
Please note: You need to reach out to the buyer immedaitely and let them know you are working on getting them their ticket. They can request a refund if you select "Electronic Transfer" and they are not transferable so please be careful when selectiong your ticket type when making a post.
How do I get my buyer their tickets?
All phyiscal tickets must be mailed priority with a tracking number!
Tracking numbers and insurance allow the seller, the buyer, and CashorTrade to see where your ticket is. If it is lost in the mail, the shipper's insurance pays out the seller. CashorTrade does not protect sellers from tickets lost in the mail that are sent without insurance. Please do NOT require delivery confirmation signature, as it can complicate delivery of the ticket if the buyer is not at home when it arrives.
NOTE: If the event is less than 3 days away, please ask buyer if they would like to have them overnighted for an extra charge. You cna edit your post to refect the added shipping or they can send more money with the "$" in the bottom left corner of your chat.
Meeting in person is great and is encouraged for last minute ticket sales!
The platform makes it easy to do that. You can make a new friend, see shows and trade for years to come.
However, we do NOT recommend meeting on lot just before the show or in front of the venue. There are too many variables that can get in the way:
- Cell phones stop working due to so many trying to use them at once
- People are late to the meeting spot or miscommunicate about the exact spot
- Both buyers and sellers have backed out on deals when they pass someone on lot who has or wants a ticket
We reccomend you meeting up at a location that has an exact physical address like a coffee shop, restaruant, book store! Anywhere that can easily be searched in a GPS or found on a map.
When Do I Get Paid?
As soon as you accept a payment you are "paid" it is held in an escrow account until the event occurs or the tickets are received.
If you need a sale voided create a support ticket immediately. The sale will not void by not marking the tickets as received.
There are a few different levels for payout & they all affect when exactly the money shows up in your PayPal account.
3 Days After The Event
- All users start at this payout. This is the safest way for us to ensure all tickets and transactions are carried through until the end. The payout automatically gets sent out as long as there are no issues reported with the tickets.
Upon Tickets Received
- If you would like to add a debit or credit card on file we can approve you for Upon Tickets Received payout. This means once the buyer indicates that the tickets are in their possession your payout will be released. It may take a full day to send depending on what time they mark them as received. Please check your payouts tab to see the expected delivery date.
Next Day
- Next Day payout is only available for a very small amount of members who have over 20+ positive reviews, along with a trusted history on the site.
To see which one you are approved for, visit the account settings page and choose "payouts".
NOTE: CID packages are manually pushed out upon admin review so the payout date is not exact, your payout may be put on hold until 3-days after the event on a case by case basis.
In order to have your CID package payout pushed out as quickly as possible; please forward the following items to receipts@cashortrade.org
- The original receipt from your package purchase
- The official transfer waiver from CID
- A photo of your government issued ID or driver's license
For more details, on paying and payouts visit our terms and conditions.
Do I need a PayPal account to sell tickets?
Yes you will need an active PayPal account to get paid out for your sales on the site.
Buying
You do not need a PayPal account to buy tickets on CashorTrade; tickets are purchased with either a debit or credit card.
Selling
You do need a PayPal account to sell tickets on CashorTrade. If you do not have one, you will have to create one before you can accept payouts.
Can I post Platinum Tickets on the site?
Yes, there is a common misconception about Platinum Tickets.
-Although they are higher priced than most others in the venue, these tickets are not scalped and not resold tickets-
Instead, they are selected seats that have been marked up relative to demand. This increase in revenue goes to the Band, Ticket Company, Promoters, and often the artist's non-profit. Unfortunately it is a new pricing model that is much like airline seats. As these tickets are being purchase for the first time, and no middle man is making any profit, these are actually face value tickets.

trading
Can I trade 2 okay seats for 1 great seat?
Nope, sorry! That wouldn't be face or fair.
All ticket trades MUST be face value. This means if you have a (2) 200 section seats you want to trade for a floor, it must be the (2) seats for (1) floor PLUS the face value of the other ticket. This makes it so people do not have ridiculous bundles for the one good seat. In the past, we had people trading up to 6 "nose-bleeds" for 1 floor. That just isn't right if you ask us!
Ex: (2) Section 212 Row R Seats 13 + 14 = $210
(1) Floor Ticket = $105
Trade would be the (2) tickets for the (1) floor + $105
How can I protect my trade?
Right now, our Trader's Protection only covers purchases on the site.
If you want your trade to be protected, you and your committed trader can "sell" one another the tickets by using the $ in the bottom left corner of your chat. This way, there is a monetary value exchanged in the event that they do not come through with their trade. Any members that commit to trades and back out will immediately be suspended and their account placed under review to determine if they will be banned from CashorTrade for good.
managing offers
How Do I Make An Offer?
Offers are how buyers inquire about tickets they are interested in.
Making an offer
- Choose the tickets that you are interested in
- Look over the ticket details and see if everything works for you
- Write a message to the seller and choose commit to buy
Note: You can respond to their post without committing to purchase by clicking the "Not ready to buy? Ask them a question!" button. Some sellers want to know whoever is buying will purchase the tickets and may select a user that is committed to buy over one that isn't.
How Do I Know When My Offer Is Accepted?
CashorTrade allows the seller to choose who they sell their extra tickets to!
Allowing the seller to choose who gets their ticket is one of the many ways that help us maintain the community vibe the site offers. Buyers are selected based upon location, friendliness, reviews, icons....anything, really!
When your offer is accepted if you are committed to buy, your card will be charged and your offer will move from your Offers tab to your inbox in the Message section.
-If the post says sold, unfortunately your offer was not accepted-
If you have made an offer that you wish to withdrawal and has not been accepted you can go to your sent offers and choose the option to "rescind".
I Accepted An Offer, What's Next?
We are so glad you were able to find a good home for your extra face value tickets!
Once an offer is accepted, if the user was committed to buy, you will have accepted their payment. If they did not commit to buy, you can request that they pay you.
Next:
- Update shipping, transfer, or upload the tickets into the message thread
- Mark shipped or transferred
- They will mark received upon delivery
- Review one another!

We use Trader's Protection -- a 100% money back guarantee on all ticket purchases and sales -- to protect both buyers and sellers. To learn more, check out the breakdown and this blog post!
When Do I Get Paid?
As soon as you accept a payment you are "paid" it is held in an escrow account until the event occurs or the tickets are received.

Upon Tickets Received

Where Do I Update Shipping?
When you have finished accepting payment you will
- Click the orange "Delivery Options" button in your chat with the buyer to see their shipping address
- You will need to select the provider that you have chosen and upload the tracking number
- Mark as sent

We reccomend you meeting up at a location that has an exact physical address like a coffee shop, restaruant, book store! Anywhere that can easily be searched in a GPS or found on a map.
How does electronic transfer work?
a) If the tickets are TicketMaster tickets and they offer the button to transfer them when viewing your orders, you will need the buyer's email. Simply enter it in and it will send them a fresh ticket with a new bar code. Your tickets will become invalid at this point.
b) If there is no ability to process a transfer, you may upload the PDF directly to the discussion in CashorTrade. All uploaded files are fully encrypted and the buyer will need to confirm their login info to download them. If you have forgotten your password visit: https://cashortrade.org/forgotpwd to reset your password.
Do I Send Tickets Before I Receive Payment?
Yes. The newest update made it so the commitment from the buyer is their payment.
-The buyer pays CashorTrade, we hold their cash in Escrow until the transaction is complete, and then we pay you. They are charged right when you click "accept payment"-
If it shows in your message string that the buyer has paid, you should send tickets. As a seller, you are protected as long as you deliver valid tickets. If you do not deliver valid tickets your card on file will be charged for the price of the tickets and the Trader's Protection.

ticketing issues
What do I do if my tickets don't work when I get to the venue?
It's very important that you follow these steps immediately to get into the venue or to confirm that the ticket is not valid. Please DO NOT buy another ticket and then request a refund the next day. If you don't confirm the ticket is invalid, you will not get a refund.
- Try a different scanner from a different usher; If you have a mobile ticket, turn the brightness up on your phone screen and try again.
- If it is a hard ticket or if the ticket won't scan, visit the box office. Ask them to scan the ticket. If it doesn't work, ask the box office why and get a receipt or other proof from them that the ticket was invalid. The best proof you can get is a video of the ticket not scanning. Typical reasons include: it was already scanned or that the ticket is not valid.
- Click the "Report Issue with Ticket" button and let the seller know the ticket did not scan.
- Create a support ticket on CashorTrade. We are notified and will be in touch.
Please be sure to report validity issues immediately & always reach out to the seller as they can likely help to get your ticket reissued.
You have 24 hours after the respected scan time to report an issue.
I lost my ticket. What do I do?
Bummer! This is a fan community. We'll do what we can to help you out and the seller will too.
- For hard tickets or PDFs that were sent to you on CashorTrade: go to your discussion with the seller and ask for their help. The seller may be able to email it to you again. If not, he/she may be able to call the box office and have the ticket reissued for you at will call under your name.
- For Ticketmaster transfers, or any other transfer where the order was put in your name, contact the primary ticketing company with your order number.
My event was cancelled or postponed. What do I do?
We will notify the buyer and the seller if we learn of an event being cancelled or postponed. If you find out an event is cancelled before we notify you, please submit a support ticket and let us know.
- For hard tickets and mobile tickets sent via CashorTrade to the buyer, the seller will request the refund of their original purchase on the primary market. Once the seller has been refunded, CashorTrade will refund the buyer. In certain cases, the seller is required to return hard tickets to the primary ticketing company to obtain the refund. In these cases, the buyer should promptly mail the hard tickets back to the seller.
- Postponed events are handled on a case-by-case basis. Sellers are prohibited from reselling or invalidating tickets they have sold to postponed events. Please submit a support ticket if an event is postponed and you are requesting a refund.
CashorTrade is not responsible for refunding any cancelled or postponed events if the primary ticketing company does not offer a refund.
My DICE tickets are not transferable, what do I do?
If you purchased your tickets from DICE, they require the ticket to be on their application. Before selling tickets from DICE please contact them and see if the tickets can be issued to will call for that specific event. If so, once you sell them you can put them under your buyer's name. If they do not allow it for the event, we unfortunately can not have you post them on our site as there is no way to get them to your buyer.
